Welcome to week 27 of a 52-week account of my experience over the year with OddsJam.
You can read about last week here: OddsJam Bettings Results for Week 26 of 52.
Recap
The profitable weeks continue. Week 27 was yet another profitable week with OddsJam bringing us to three green weeks in a row. A really solid Tuesday set the week up nicely with a tidy. With Tuesday in the mix and a few days without bets, a rare occurrence, the profit margin for the week ticked up well above the average again.
The real story for the week was the monster edge I found and hit on Friday. It was by far the biggest edge I’ve found and landed since I started +EV/value betting.
The year to date has been pretty consistent and profitable. I’m quickly closing in on seven straight months of profitability as a regular sports bettor. In my opinion, that would not be possible without the tools that OddsJam provides. It has been quite the journey and I look forward to it continuing.
The NFL is done for the year (what a way to end the season!). However, NHL, and NBA are all available for bets. There are also a ton of NCAAB games every week. Now is a great time to start your own profitable sports betting journey! Start your free trial of OddsJam. Highlights
Week 27 is yet another week when I hit the biggest edge that I found. The difference this time was the size of the edge. In the Bucks-Grizzlies game, I hit Ziaire Williams at over 19.5 PRA on an edge of 88%! You read that correctly: OddsJam found me a +EV/value bet with an 88% edge and it hit! (Full transparency, the book did limit the bet to under $9). I placed the bet at +280 odds (3.8 decimal) and it closed at +106 (2.06 decimal). If only I could have hammered that edge with a higher wager. I’ll take it any day of the week, even if the bet was limited.
The bet above also pointed out that when I was looking at the best odd and longest odds for a week, I was looking at the odds at which I placed the bet. I should probably be looking at the closing line value. From this week forward, I’ll use the CLV to make that call.
So, the biggest long shot I hit for the week was the 1st half moneyline in the Pacers-Hornets game. I had the Hornets to be leading at the half with CLV odds of +188 (2.88 decimal). Even better that I placed the bets with a 6% edge and at +200 odds (3 decimal). A tidy profit.
The biggest miss for the week was Nikola Vucevic who didn’t manage to have more than 2.5 assists in the Bulls-Cavs game. The CLV on that was -141 (1.71 decimal). If that really was the worst miss for the week, you know it was a good week.
Results
(Just a reminder that I’m in New Zealand, so everything is a day ahead.)
For the week, I’m up $138 which is slightly ahead of last week. I do enjoy this side hustle that OddsJam makes possible and easy.
The Numbers
I crushed the closing line value(CLV) this week topping the 75% from last week by hitting 80% this week. Clearly, week 25 with CLV of 68% was an anomaly.
My win rate dropped a few ticks from last week and I finished the week at 53%. Remember, the win rate is probably the least valuable indicator of profitability in sports betting. My reference to it here is in the context of the odds range where most of my best fall. In that context, 53% might be a few per cent higher than expected.
Profit/wager for the week was up to a very healthy 8.89%! That isn’t sustainable, but I won’t complain about hitting just under 9% for a week.
Not surprisingly, my turnover and bet count were way down this week – two days without any bets will do that. I managed a turnover of $1500 on 78 bets. It is a bit crazy having more profit in a week with fewer bets. That is just the nature of +EV/value betting.
I am past the halfway point in the original year-long project (Halftime Update) and I’m very much looking forward to continuing to track my progress and share it online. Knowing what it looks like might help a few people understand the power of +EV/value betting for long-term profit. Trust the math, use the Kelly Criterion for bet sizing, make enough bets and it is hard not to profit long-term. OddsJam finds the bets and gives you the bet size. The rest is up to you. It really is a nice side hustle.
