Welcome to week five of a 52-week account of my experience over the year with OddsJam.
You can read about last week here: OddsJam Betting Results Week 4 of 52
Week five was an interesting week. After starting the week with four straight days of losses, the last three were great and I ended the week positive again. Green weeks are something that I find happens more often than not using OddsJam.

For the week, I’m up 5.8 betting units for the week (just a reminder, I use the minimum wager I’m willing to bet at as the base for the year to determine how much profit I’m making so you can easily compare to your bankroll). I recognize that this wouldn’t have happened without the strong showing on Saturday. Saturday simply had more games with more +EV bets that could be made.
The first Sunday with NFL games was not a great start. Most of what I was able to wager on was player props with a good edge, but the width of the market was wider than usual game lines, which means there is much more variation there.
The time difference here in New Zealand makes wagering difficult on NFL games for a few more weeks until we change our clocks. Kickoff at the moment is 5am! Lots of lines haven’t even been released yet when I call it a day. And I’d struggle to get up at 4:30am to place my bets.
I beat the CLV a little less this week, but at the end of the day, a slight dip doesn’t matter so much as anything near 75% is good.
With a positive August and a good start to September, my average bet size is creeping up. I have run into a few spots where I’ve had to lower my recommended bet size. In those cases, I just wager about 80% of what the limit is and know that I’ll be fine without much risk of being limited.
Again, some sizeable variance, and I easily could have ended the week down. Trusting the process and not pulling back just because I had a few down days is the correct approach. If it does get to me a bit too much, I just take a few days with fewer wagers, then get back into it.
For the week, I managed 35 bets, and beat the CLV 73% of the time. I won 49% of bets made which is probably a bit high for the wagers I made this week.
I was hoping to start to make significantly more bets per week. That just isn’t happening with my current schedule and the time difference I mentioned above. It will sort itself out, but I won’t force it on small edges with high market widths as it just isn’t worth it. Once the NHL and NBA seasons start, there will be plenty more bets to make during each week.
